Adult Trinocular Microscope WF10x and WF25x Eyepieces 40X-5000X Magnification, Digital Lab Trinocular Compound LED Microscope (Trinocular Microscope with Electronic Eyepieces)

When I ordered this Woehrsh trinocular microscope, it was $290. I was only going to give this 3 stars because the price was high for this level scope, and because of areas that need improvement. Since the price has dropped to $230 at the time of my review, I am adding back a star.This scope has a lot going for it, and with a few tweaks this could be a great starter microscope.Things I like:• It came with a lot of helpful accessories for creating your own slides• Nice carrying case• 10 prepared slides so you have something to look at right out of the box• The eyepiece housing swivels 360 degrees• The ability to adjust the interpupillary distance between the eyepieces• Being able to display the image on the computer using the camera• The spring loaded caliper that holds the slide in place and the micro adjusters that allow precise positioning• Coarse and fine stage height controlsAreas for improvement:• No diopter adjustability to account for eyeball focusing differences• The complete lack of useful instructions. The practically useless “manual” shows a range of microscopes, none of which even match this model• There is nothing describing what everything does and which parts go where. No explanation of how to combine the various eyepieces to achieve the available magnifications, and how to use the aperture disc under the stage• The adjustable brightness LED light under the stage does not get very bright – certainly not enough for high magnifications• The software is provided on CD-ROM, and a mini disc at that? It’s hard enough to find an optical drive, but many drives can’t accommodate 3 inch discs. I’m on a Mac so I used Photo Booth to display the camera images on screen, bypassing the software altogether• The stage does not seem to move low enough to view 3D objects like bugs. Maybe there is a way to do this but with no useable instructions, I don’t know howThese limitations could easily be so easily rectified, raising this from kinda “meh” to “WOW”!
